Robert “Rob” Charles Walker was born on March 28, 1958 to Maxine Walker and Robert Portis. He departed this life on Friday, May 10, 2024, at his residence in Fayette, AL.
Robert was educated in the Fayette County school system where he attended West Highland High School and Fayette County High School. He was employed at the Tile plant and Charles Cafeteria of Fayette. He was known as “DJ Rob” when he worked local parties, especially at Newtonville Community Center. He was also a great dancer.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents, his father, two aunts, Vertie Wilson and Mellcine Salter; three uncles: J.C. Walker, Hubert Walker, and L.B. Walker, and a grandson, Derrick Whitson, Jr.
He leaves to cherish his memories, his mother, Maxine Walker of Fayette, AL; four children: Yolanda Whitson, SanPadro Whitson, Derrick Whitson all of Indianapolis, IN, and Rydrea Walker (Kelly) of Greenwood, IN; five aunts: Annie Hollingsworth of Tuscaloosa, AL, Ola and Blonnie Walker of Fayette, AL, Nellcine Johnson of Holly Springs, MS and Alice Hollingsworth of Berry, AL; three uncles: James Walker, Norah Walker and Richard Walker all of Fayette, AL; eight grandchildren; a special friend, Rosie Smith, and a host of cousins and friends.
