Ronald Waldrop

Ronald Waldrop, age 78 of Belk, passed away Wednesday, September 16, 2020. There will be a graveside service at 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 18, 2020 at Antioch Cemetery. By request of the family please wear a mask and practice social distancing. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Grace Waldrop. Mr. Waldrop is survived by his wife, Barbara Waldrop; son, Chad Waldrop; grandson, Ethan Waldrop sisters, Deanne Sweatte (Steve) and Teresa Geer (Jim); and brother, Joe Waldrop (Ann). Ronald was a loving husband, father and Pawpaw. Ronald and Barbara were married for 56 years. He taught school for 43 years and was voted teacher of the year. Ronald started the Fayette Frog Level Festival and Belk Blue Grass Festival. He loved his community and was mayor of Belk. He enjoyed playing golf and watching Alabama football. He loved spending time with his grandson, who was the apple of his eye. Ronald will be missed by everyone that knew him. Pallbearers are Macky Watkins, Micky Watkins, Travis Waldrop, David Waldrop, Jim Geer and Bill Davis. Honorary pallbearers are Ethan Waldrop and Glen Akin.
