Thomas Basil Dickey

Thomas Basil Dickey, age 84 of Fayette, passed away September 29, 2023, at his residence. Services for Mr. Dickey will be on Tuesday, October 3, 2023, at Norwood Wyatt Chapel at 1:30 p.m. with Rev. J'Michael Key and Rev. Dalton Eason Jr. officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior in the Chapel. A graveside service will be followed at Hickman Chapel Cemetery at 4:00 p.m.

Mr. Dickey is preceded in death by his father; Thomas William Taft Dickey, mother; Lorene Herring Dickey, sisters; Janet Humphries, and Carrie Afton Oglesby, and brother; Joseph Franklin Culver Jr.

He is survived by his wife; Shirley Fowler Dickey of Fayette Alabama, Daughters; Linda (Jake) Goodwin of Hoover Alabama, Janet Hyatt of Pelham Alabama, Susan (J’Michael) Key of Fayette Alabama, Cynthia (John) Montgomery of Hoover Alabama, sons; David (Alisa) Dickey of Hawaii, and Billy (Joy) McCollum of Fayette Alabama, sister; Loretta (Jim) Hancock of Pleasant Grove, sister-in-law; Diane Culver of Decatur Alabama, and brother; John E. (Josephine) Culver of McCalla Alabama.

Thomas Basil Dickey (Tom) was born Aug. 31, 1939, in Jefferson County to Thomas William Taft Dickey and Lorene Herring Dickey.

After Completing his high school education, he entered the Air Force where he spent the next 6 years. His deployment carried him to Toul Rosieres, France.

After his children were born, Tom joined the Air National Guard. He entered Bessemer Technical School where he received a degree in Electrical and H-Vac systems. His places of employment included Children’s Hospital and JVC where he worked until retirement.

Tom was a Trinity Church of God member, A Boy Scout leader, and a Mason.

Pallbearers will be Trace Taylor, Ethan Taylor, Jesse Thomas, John Montgomery, Chris Fowler, J.T. Thomas, and Ridge Brown.
