Virgie Lou Simmons, age 89 of Berry AL, passed away on Thursday, December 05, 2024, at Hospice of West Alabama. Visitation will be Saturday, December 07, 2024, at Norwood-Wyatt Chapel, from 2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. The service will be Sunday, December 08, 2024, at Norwood-Wyatt Chapel, 2:00 p.m. with a visitation one hour prior to service time. Burial will follow at Gibson Hill Cemetery. Sis. Amy Lowery and Bro. Wayne Boman will be officiating the service. Norwood-Wyatt Chapel will be directing the service.
Virgie is preceded in death by her husband; Billy Joe Simmons, parents; Grady and Gertrude Earnest, grandson; Chris Simmons, three sister, and 3 brothers.
She is survived by her daughters; Sandra Simmons of Berry AL, Sarah Anderson of Northport AL, and Donna (Lee) Simmons of Northport AL, sons; Mike (Cindy) Simmons of Berry AL, and Don (Jackie) Simmons of Bankston, sixteen grandchildren, forty-two great grandchildren, and twenty-seven great great grandchildren.
Virgie, also known as “Aunt Bud” was born May 23, 1935. She attended school in Corona AL. At the age of sixteen, she married the love of her life Billy Joe Simmons. In 2019, they celebrated 66 years together before he passed away. Virgie loved her family more than anything. If she could tell you anything now as she did when she was on earth, she would tell you know where you are going to spend eternity. She loved the lord and she lived it daily. Virgie will be missed dearly by her family and friends.
Pallbearers will be Allan Goodwin, Chad Simmons, Jason Simmons, Dustin Simmons, Jayden Simmons, Jordan Nelson, and Tony Simmons.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Hospice of West Alabama.
