William, also known as Bill or “Poppy” to many, was born January 19, 1964 at Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune, NC, then later raised in Memphis, TN. During high school his family moved to Tuscaloosa, AL where he remained the rest of his life. After high school, William enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. While in the Marines, he deployed to Norway, Japan and the Philippines, performing various training exercises and humanitarian missions. After the Marine Corps, William returned to Tuscaloosa, AL where he met his now wife of 35 years Linda. He then later started his own pest control and landscaping business. While he did not have any children of his own Poppy played a special part in helping raise grandchildren along with great-grandchildren. His greatest joys in life were his grandchildren, great grandchildren and his nieces and nephews that he loved dearly. He loved taking them on rides on his lawn mower or letting them pretend to drive his truck. Although throughout his final years he had several medical conditions that altered his way of life he still found a way to give selflessly to all of those that he loved. He especially loved and would light up the most when his 2 great-grandchildren Kallen and Bentley would come to visit and spend time with him. While we are devastated with his passing the family is at peace knowing he is no longer sick.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that you donate to the Disabled American Veterans Organization or to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in his honor.

The family would like to give special thanks to ICU staff (Tiffany & Andrew) and physicians at DCH.
