Willie Hardy

Willie Hardy, age 83 of Fayette, passed away Thursday, November 26, 2020. Services will be Thursday, December 3, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. at Norwood-Wyatt Chapel. The body will lie in state one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Moore's Bridge Cemetery. Willie "June Bug" Hardy was born April 23, 1937 to the late Rufus and Christena Hardy in Greene County, AL. He departed this life at home with family on November 26, 2020. "June Bug" was the oldest of eight children. At an early age of his life he left to set out on new adventures of the world. He was a truck driver for over 60 years. He traveled the country and could tell you anything you wanted to know about where you were going. He loved all his family, no matter where they were located and had a special love for his cat "Kujo" who watched every move he made when he was up and about. Willie "June Bug" is preceded in death by his parents, Rufus and Christena Hardy; one son, Jerome Hardy; five brothers: Lovell Hardy, James Hardy, Don Hardy, Tyrone Hardy and Lester Hardy; and a sister, Irene Lee Garner. He is survived by his beloved family, Ms. Eloise Blackburn for over 60 years; sisters: Betty Jean Rodgers and Phyliss Hardy Blair; daughters: Patsy Hardy, Kristina (Darnell) Philpot, Sandra Stallworth, Mary Blackburn, Judy Billups and Sabrina Blackburn; sons: Donell Medley, Dale Hardy (Joyce), Willie Curt Walker, James Blackburn and Roy Lee Blackburn (Kim); many grandchildren, great grands and great-great grands whom he loved very much; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
